It would have been an above average dish if the rice were not "crunchy". The crawfish sauce was done well, and the catfish fried well. I've only had two overcooked shrimp dishes in my life, and it is a sad disappointment to receive one. It's very hard to overcook shrimp unless you leave it in the fryer too long, which is fairly amazing being that shrimp take very little time to fry. ![]() What has driven me to write this review are two things: first, how do you overcook shrimp if you specialize in seafood, especially fried seafood. I did get a more than generous portion of shrimp, a fairly decent potato salad, and no bread (although I did ask). If I pay $18 for a shrimp platter, I expect to get one. This was my second time eating here, and it was a terrible disappointment. I really think the renovation is quite nice and this place has done well to accommodate the volume it tends to have. Some in the area rave over this restaurant. BTW, I called the westbank and Covington locations and asked about the automatic 18% gratuity policy and was told by both locations that they only add the tip to a bill when it is a party of 6 or more. Gerald is the most unprofessional, rude, presumptuous manager I have ever encountered. He also decided that I needed a history lesson on the hotel, restaurant and management industry along with a 3rd grade math lesson on the percentage that I tipped her. Gerald decided to argue his point further. I explained that I was being generous by leaving a tip for a server that did provide good customer service. Gerald took offense to my request and rudely begin telling me that his waitresses work hard and he believes she deserves the 18% 'service fee' plus the tip that I left. I told Gerald that I did not feel like we were treated fairly, rather we were subjected to the waitress's opinion on whether or not we would leave a tip. I asked again, "what is the POLICY for adding an 18% 'service fee' to a bill? Gerald never stated the company policy. I asked Gerald "what is the policy for adding 18% gratuity to a bill?" His response was, we 'can' add it on parties of 4, 5, 6 etc.I commented that this sounds like workplace practice but not the policy. I told Gerald that I was not satisfied with the service that I received, and I tipped according to the services rendered. I called to inquire about the service fee and was told by the manager, Gerald Chedda, that it was, in fact, the addition of an 18% gratuity. ![]() Once I made it home I realized that we were charged a "SERVICE FEE" of $16.79. ![]() In fact, we only saw her when she took our drink order and to drop off the check. However, I our waitress was slow and inattentive. The food was good but the service was mediocre and the Manager Gerald Chedda is horrible! My husband and I sat with another couple to enjoy dinner & drinks.
